Easy Introduction to Tai Chi this for Spring 2026 (details below)

Seeing is believing. Watch a demo here of the Tai Chi Easy “form” (set of movements) we will be learning in this class. There are 10,000 forms in Tai Chi! This is an example form that illustrates the Tai Chi principles of meditative movement. It takes two minutes to play. You play Tai Chi the way you play sports or a song.

You, too, can play Tai Chi!

The details:

  • Slow Meditative Movement

Slow full-body movements give your brain and nervous system an experience of peace and safety. This meditative state is characterized by focus and concentration. Tai Chi has many benefits! Download the one-page PDF to read aboutt he Eight Benefits of Tai Chi.

  • Class Location and Meeting Time

Class Dates are Sundays: April 12, 19, and 26. The classes will build a foundation to learn longer and more complex Tai Chi forms (sets of movements). We meet outdoors on Sundays for 60 minutes at 4:00pm at Cooper Park located at Chesley Ave. & Yorkton Dr. , Mountain View, CA 94040. Some people bring folding chairs— you can practice in a chair. Be sure to bring a jacket, because it can get breezy at this park even when the temperature rises.

  • Teaching and Learning Methods

Clear and compassionate instruction are what we aim for. It really helps your learning to get explanations of how to do the movements and to have a light heart and a sense of humor. I use a technique of multiple views to show you how to do the movements (side, front, back). For example, I demonstrate both a mirrored view (facing you as if you are looking at a mirror), because staying relaxed as you learn will help you embody the principles of “trying not to try.”
